Soaring . . . powerful . . . majestic -- Conductor's Joy is a symphonic poem that celebrates trains and railroad travel. The underlying rhythm has some musicians play three beats in a measure while others play four. The melody, therefore, swings back and forth, creating a feeling of freedom, just like a person gets while watching the countryside glide by outside a train window. All aboard!
