All mobile devices with SCP-1471 installed are to be confiscated and analyzed for links to other potentially infected devices and their potential for detection. Following analysis, the device's battery is to be removed, it is assigned a serial number (e.g., SCP-1471-1234), and stored in Storage Unit 91 at Research Site-45.
To prevent unintentional installations of SCP-1471, all online app sales and installations are to be monitored. Suspected devices are to be infected with malware that automatically downloads to the device, allowing time for agents to locate and seize the device.
Description: SCP-1471 is a free 9.8 MB mobile app named "MalO ver1.0.0" distributed through online app stores. The developer of SCP-1471 is unknown; it bypasses the approval process and becomes available for download through unknown means. SCP-1471 also resists attempts by third-party application management software to uninstall it.
Installing SCP-1471 does not create any icons or shortcuts for launching the application. SCP-1471 will then begin sending individual images to the text messaging app every 3-6 hours. All of these images feature SCP-1471-A, either in the background or foreground. SCP-1471-A appears to be a large, black-haired humanoid with a canine-like skull.
For the first 24 hours after installing SCP-1471, the mobile device will receive images taken at locations frequently visited by the device's owner. After 48 hours, images will begin to arrive of locations recently visited by the device's owner. After 72 hours, images of the owner themselves, taken in real time, will begin to arrive, with SCP-1471-A in close proximity to the device's owner.
Ninety hours of exposure or more result in the user experiencing fragmented visions of SCP-1471-A in their peripheral vision, reflections, or both. Longer exposure makes these visions persistent and irreversible. Subjects at this stage report SCP-1471-A attempting to establish visual contact, but the entity's actions remain incomprehensible. The only currently known method of neutralizing SCP-1471's effects is isolating the subject from incoming images until the ninetieth hour after installation. To date, no hostile behavior has been observed from SCP-1471-A.
