Engine & Drivetrain

Our Shelby has the powerful 540 horsepower 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 and six-speed manual gearbox with revised steering and shorter rear-end gearing as well.

Overall performance is similar to the hardtops as the convertible only adds 100 lbs more weight, with 0-60 mph coming in 4.7 seconds and the quarter-mile is conquered in 13.0 seconds at 112 mph versus 12.9 at 113.
The convertible’s front-to-rear weight distribution actually is slightly better (57/43 versus the coupe’s 58/42), as is its 70-to-0 braking figure (172 feet versus 182).

Our supercharged engine sits in a stock looking compartment with all the factory parts including the ram air system, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, performance suspension, while riding on 18” factory mag wheels and black sidewall performance tires.

Exterior

As you’d expect, the GT500 excels at stopping traffic with its Grabber Blue and red striped exterior and is certainly eye-catching, with spoilers, vents, and Cobras emblems.

It rides and handles like it is on rails because it has a coil front spring, front stabilizer bar, Independent front strut suspension, coil rear springs, Multi-link rear suspension. It sounds good too with the Dual Exhaust System with exhaust tips coming out the rear.
