A rapid-fire way to turn any drum loop into its constituent hits is the technique at the core of this week's episode. Jono is importing an audio file from the Loop Browser and is using 'Remove Silence' to ask Logic to slice each hit into its own audio region, looking at the parameters available for this kind of automatic chopping. From that point, he's dragging all of the regions into Drum Machine Designer, where each one is automatically assigned to its own DMD pad. Here it can be further edited before being triggered, via MIDI, to allow a new groove to be programmed. And the whole lot is done in just a few short minutes.
