The point of this video is that income and expenses can be measured and managed. How much money you want to spend to have a good time is up to you, but you at least need to be measuring and managing your money.
Follow me on this 21 day driving trip I took from Los Angeles, California to Daytona Beach, Florida. I was reminded just how beautiful this part of the world is. America has so many different kinds of terrain, plants and animals.
I prefer to sleep in my car because my Honda Civic is just so cheap to run. Just sitting parked my 2002 Honda costs me about $4 a day to pay for insurance, maintenance and registration for a year. That’s basically free. And the Honda can also be used like a free bed that follows me around everywhere I go.
It cost me $1,200 to travel almost constantly for 21 days which is $60 per day. With my national park card ($80) I have unlimited access to the national parks.
By keeping my expenses low while I travel around the world I allow my capital in rental real estate to keep growing. I won’t always travel this lightly, this frugal. But I’m just enjoying the journey. Have fun with it. It wouldn’t be fun if you were just all of a sudden I was very wealthy. Wealth will come soon enough. In the mean time enjoy the journey and the struggle. The goal isn’t to become a guy with a lot of money, but a guy who can make, maintain and grow money. Money is a metaphor, don’t get attached to the metaphor. On your path to great wealth you are changing, becoming a different person. Enjoy the process.
