Stingrays Attack! How safe is it to swim with stingrays?
How dangerous is swimming with wild stingray? This wildlife attraction has become very popular in places like the Cayman Islands, Antigua, Belize, Australia, Moorea, and Mexico. People obviously love it. Cayman Islands along estimate close to million visitors to stingray sites annually! But do you know, that, there are approximately 2000 injuries happened annually in US only and majority of the mild cases are not reported. Can you imagine how many stingray attacks happen worldwide. These incidents are not so rare, as stingray city tour guides trying to convince you. Like this mild stingray injury may cause , mostly due to complex venom effect: headache, nausea, vomiting, fainting, low blood pressure, arrhythmia of the heart and even seizures. Person with wound like that can end up at emergency for stitches, antibiotics and pain killers. If cartilage or nerves are damaged, that person can face surgery, so not just precious vacation can be spoiled completely, but injured person may experience long term consequences.
