Is it really worth the effort to grow strawberries from seeds?! I was so inspired by coloIful images in the catalogue and proposes that strawberry will produce berries as soon as a 3-5 month period after seeding. And I purchased a packet of seeds from my usual supplier I paid $9.95 CND+tax. For only 10-12 seeds . So theoretically if I will manage to grow a few bushes it will cost me more than $2 dollars per plant . But I really want to see if it worth to grow strawberries from seeds at all. In many articles I found that growing F1 strawberries from seeds have advantages over traditional propagation by runners, because apparently no viruses , diseases or pests can be transmitted via seeds. Also The use of F1 hybrids express high yield and high robustness against various stresses.
