Remove Horizontal Sliding Window For Cleaning
Take out horizontal slider window sashes from window frames easily. Most windows that slide open sideways are removed with the same method. There are some tilt in sliders, though that is rare. Most sashes simply lift out of the frame. Some frames will have a stop at the top of the frame which requires the sash to be slid open to remove it.
On some vinyl windows there is a plastic track on the bottom of the window frame. The wheels on the bottom of the sashes roll on the track. Often the track can be pried out with a wide blade putty knife. If the window is old or gets a lot of sun, it may be best to not remove the track. Plastic can get brittle as they age and it's possible the track will crack or break. For sure that would be bad news.
