Here are 3 tips that helped me go the distance in my breastfeeding journey:
Nail the Right Latch: This is critical! Without it, soreness and frustration follow. In a nutshell, you want the lower breast and areola in baby’s mouth with your nipple up at baby’s high palate.
Play with Positions: Experimenting with different breastfeeding positions is key. The Breast Crawl is great for newborns, but cross-cradle offers solid support. My little guy needed guidance, so a hand on his neck helped.
Seek Early Help: Breastfeeding is all about muscle memory and quick habits form, so nail that latch from the start. Get with an IBCLC lactation consultant or attend a local La Leche meeting to get the support you need.
