Can the way you labor make birth easier? YES!
Certain positions can help open your pelvis so baby can descend and labor progress.
Here are some to try:
All Fours
A great position to relieve back pain and help baby move into the optimal position.
Rocking with a Partner
Being close and supported by your partner can be comforting, and the upright position uses gravity to help baby descend.
Sitting on the Toilet
They don’t call it the “dilation station” for nothing! This can help relax your pelvic floor muscles, making it easier for baby to move down.
Forward Leaning on a Birth Ball
Great for resting and taking the pressure off your back while encouraging baby’s descent.
Hip Circles on a Birth Ball
Helps to open your pelvis and keep your hips loose and flexible.
Standing with Hip Squeezes
Provides counter pressure and relief while encouraging baby to descend. A great one for back labor!
Asymmetrical Squatting
Opens the pelvis in a way that helps baby move down, especially if they're not quite in the right position.
