I take one scene (#24) from 'Steamboat Willie' and reconstruct the animation as it would have been created at the studio, right down to timing charts and layering. The original timing by Ub Iwerks is revealed, along with a few strange mistakes and choices!
I'm doing a series of movies on 1920s rubberhose animation using Steamboat Willie and early early Mickey as an important component. I'm hoping to create scenes from a 'lost' cartoon featuring the mouse, directed by H.P. Lovecraft, called 'The Mouse of Madness'.
