The phrase ‘Net Zero’ has been thrown around quite a bit. Here's why:
We could hit 3 degrees of global warming by the year 2100. If it happens, it would be disastrous.
Extreme weather events will continue to get worse if we let our planet temperature continue to rise.
It might seem that the way to stop temperatures rising, is to simply stop emitting gases. But completely cutting gas emissions from every industry is almost impossible
That's where the net zero target comes in. And with a federal election approaching in Australia, net zero emission plans are being thrown around by Members of Parliament.
But what exactly is net zero? How does it work? And how are we planning to get there?
Dr Andrew King, climate expert from the University of Melbourne, helps me break it down.
