Moritz Mahlmann kicked things off with our guest Norman Jahn from the Offenbach city administration.

Question 1: Is there a central data transfer from school administration software to every school?
Norman Jahn: Yes, this is handled analogously by the city.
Question 2: How are the iPads integrated into the 1:1 device setup?
Norman Jahn: Integrated via Relution as MDM in LogoDidact as LD Relution.
Question 3: How does the bring your own device (BYOD) work in a nutshell? / What is the difference with the shared iPad (tablet case)?
Norman Jahn: It's complicated to explain... basically, it's about granting permissions for what each device is allowed to do.
Question 4: Which boards do you have? How do they work? What are their functions?
Norman Jahn: 86-inch LED boards with whiteboard wings from VS Möbel.
Standard boards without OPC; we primarily control them via external devices and mirrors. See our website.
Question 5: How do you manage users for all schools?
Norman Jahn: Management is handled via LogoDidact for both teachers and students.
Question 6: How do you train the teachers responsible for IT?
Norman Jahn: Teachers aren't trained, but rather given initial training. This lays the foundation. Further training is offered through the media centers and is included in the tender specifications when purchasing equipment. The idea is lifetime support, from start to finish.
Question 7: How do you protect yourselves from students who can "hack"?
Norman Jahn: Through constant monitoring, firewalls, and close collaboration with teachers. Security is everyone's responsibility. Otherwise, we'll be back to the Stone Age.
Question 8: Is iServ GDPR compliant again?
Norman Jahn: iServ still does not meet the requirements of the IT Planning Council and the Data Protection Officer, similar to Microsoft or Apple.
Question 9: What bandwidth are the schools connected with, and what will be needed in the future?
Norman Jahn: Currently, each school has 1 GB and the option for 10 GB. It's difficult to predict the future because schools haven't yet fully embraced digital teaching methods.
