Fixing Archiving Error (3020:25) in PCS 7: Resolving Blocked Files and Failed Project Archiving
In this video, we address an issue where the archiving process for a project in SIMATIC Manager is aborted with the error message (3020:25), indicating that open projects cannot be archived. To resolve this, you may be instructed to close and reopen SIMATIC Manager. However, if the archiving is canceled again with the same message, it is likely due to blocked files. These files remain locked by active programs that previously accessed the project, even if all editing windows like LAD/AWL/FBD Editor and HW Config are closed.
In this specific case, we encountered the archiving error (3020:25) in PCS 7, despite closing all relevant programs such as CFC, WinCC Editor, and S7 PLCSIM. We continued to receive the same error message. In this video, we will share both the recommended solution from Siemens and the alternative solution that worked for us with PCS 7 V8.
