The Armley Hippo is a 130,000 year old skeleton of a hippo found where the Armley Gyratory stands today. This Leeds Local History video tells the story of the find in 1851 and what has happened at the location since. After the brick field was cleared, over two hundred terraced houses were built on the site. The video includes old photos of Armley and a thriving community which has sadly gone.
