I get asked this question a lot and it can be a little tricky especially with multiple characters at one table.
This surely is not the only way to do this but this video covers on how I would do it using masks. I like this method because you don't need to make multiple copies of the table or anything else in the scene that is stationary which I think is nice.
I also go over how and why I put characters into folders even though they are already contained in a group bone folder. This is mainly done so I can move characters with predetermined actions that I'd like to use AND I can use a mask for the entire character so I don't have to worry about multiple masks interfering with one another in the character bone groups.
It's pretty easy to understand once you do it and get use to using invisible masks. But if you're having trouble just watch again, I mean, I made mistakes on the first one so you can see it just takes some practice!
