In this video, I walk through how to start affiliate marketing step by step as a beginnger. I'll show you what products and services I promote, give you the basics on affiliate marketing, and explain how to get started with affiliate marketing as a beginner. You can use these strategies to make money with high ticket affiliate marketing or with recurring affiliate commission programs. This is an edited version of a live I've done previously.
I hope you enjoy this affiliate marketing for beginners tutorial!
Here are my notes from the live:
1. What is affiliate marketing
2. What to promote
3. How to promote it
4. Tips
5. Q&A
What is affiliate marketing: You find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make. Teach somebody something, and in return give them your link value and genuine help first.
There are so many upsides to this business model - creating products, no inventory, customer service, and all the costs and time associated with all that.
Downside - at the mercy of that particular business - if they make any changes, there's nothing you can do.
What to promote: Think back to what you already spend money on, believe in, or already tell people about anyway. A LOT of products/services/software have some kind of affiliate/partner program. Check to see if any of those have an affiliate program.
High ticket or recurring offer, free plans, Groovefunnels, Bluehost, Tubebuddy, Email marketing software, Courses, Clickbank, Shareasale
How to promote it: Find people that may actually need that offer. Don’t approach them as if to sell something to them. Rather, try to help them solve their problem, and present your offer as the solution.
Traffic source: Blogging, YouTube, Podcast, paid ads (Facebook, Youtube, Adwords etc.), Facebook, other social media
Get that proof of concept for you.
Here are ways to make this process better:
Lead magnet - free or low-cost resource related to your offer. Think about who your audience is, and meet them where they’re at right now. What’s the first step towards them getting that offer?
Actionable and easy to consume. Reports, checklists, videos and software.
Give it to them in exchange for their email address
Build an email list with that lead magnet
Promote your related offer or offers in an automated email sequence - get personal, share your story, be entertaining, and promote GOOD offers that will benefit your audience.
As you get more successful, keep adding more and more offers into your sequence.
Once they’ve shown interest in your offer, they will also be marketed to by that business.
So, why would someone choose to use your link over someone else’s bonuses - something that’s exclusive, that’s genuinely helpful, that solves their next problem.
Don’t promote every single product out there.
