The Tragedy of Lora and Yavorov
I’ve been working on this since November… and finally it’s done! God, it took me so long…
Back in September 2009, I downloaded the movie “Delo 205/1913: P.K. Yavorov” and decided to create a video inspired by it.
The story follows the tragic life of the Bulgarian writer Peyo Yavorov and the public figure Lora Karavelova. They met in 1906, but their love and later marriage were never fully accepted by Lora’s family.
Lora was emotionally unstable and deeply jealous — feelings that sadly played a key role in the tragic ending of their story. On the night of November 30th, 1913, Lora took her own life in their home. Just minutes later, Yavorov shot himself, trying to follow her, but survived — blinded by the attempt.
Almost a year later, on October 30th, 1914, overwhelmed by grief and scandal, Yavorov took poison and shot himself once more. This time, it was fatal.
