Kamo-gawa River is the Most Famous River in Kyoto that that runs straight throw the center of Kyoto. Kamo-gawa is also called the "Wild Duck River". This is a first class river in the Yodo-gawa River System that flows through Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.
The banks of the Kamo-gawa River are a perfect getaway from the bustle of the city at any time of the day. Join the locals for a morning walk along the river, have a picnic, dine at a nearby restaurant, and explore Pontocho Alley , where traditional culture and geisha still thrive.
It has known that the Japanese giant salamander lives in Kumogahata in the upper Kamo-gawa River. After a heavy rain, some of the salamanders are may be swept downstream into the urban area of Kyoto City.
