In today's video, we start by addressing the unfortunate news about Brahim Diaz, who has suffered a serious injury. We wish him a speedy recovery as he'll be sidelined for at least six games, a big loss given his form and importance to the squad. Real Madrid has looked shaky after five La Liga games, and the recent matchup against Real Sociedad highlighted many of the ongoing issues.
Despite winning the game, Sociedad hit the post three times, and Real Madrid was awarded two penalties – one of which was harsh but technically within the rules. The numbers are a bit worrying, with 45% of Madrid's goals coming from penalties so far this season.
Kylian Mbappe had his best performance in a Real Madrid shirt, looking lively and dangerous throughout the game. However, the overall team performance left much to be desired, with slow ball movement and a lack of penetration in passing. Real Sociedad had an xG of 0.69, compared to Madrid's 0.51, and it was surprising that one of those Militao or Rudiger headers didn’t find the net.
Our midfield, led by Aurélien Tchouaméni, showed glimpses of brilliance, but pressing remains a significant issue. We seem to lack an identity, as the team’s pressing is inconsistent, and our movement without the ball needs improvement. There’s hope that Carlo Ancelotti will make necessary tactical adjustments, especially with the upcoming rotations and key players like Rudiger and Militao needing rest.
