They are an ancient people, but their problems are highly topical: the Roma in Europe. Their heroic tales, in their Romani language "Paramisa," depict a world that has long since vanished. The fairy tale of peaceful integration often remains a dream. Over ten million Sinti and Roma live in the EU member states; they are the largest ethnic minority. In terms of numbers, they are usually so numerous that one can hardly speak of them as a minority anymore.
