Open Sourcing Scientific Research with Lab Discourse Graphs
Matthew Akamatsu explains how discourse graphs can break scientific research into its atomic components - questions, claims, and evidence - and connect them into a graph. For literature synthesis, this data model allows teams of researchers to reuse discrete observations from published research and build living theories of understanding. For ongoing research, discourse graphs enable researchers to orient toward their chosen research question and track emerging results that test their hypotheses. This allows researchers to share discrete results and ideas with sufficient context for others to understand and build upon. The resultant citation graph transparently attributes work done proportional to its knowledge-generating utility.
