We are no stranger to the Mazda CX-90 or CX-70 at Allcarnews. From driving the PHEV to the Turbo S, we never drove the “base” Turbo powertrain. So meet the 2026 model year CX-90 TURBO Premium Plus! What’s new? Well not much, but there is a new Premium Sport model with blacked out logos and trim. Other 2026 CX-90 trims gain more standard equipment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

-Under this “Turbo” is a 48v mild-hybrid 3.3L Turbocharged Inline-6 making a healthy 280HP and 332 lb-ft of torque on 87 octane fuel. This is paired to an eSkyactive 8-speed multi clutch gearbox sending power to a Rear-Biased AWD system.
-The M-Hybrid boost adds 16.6HP and 113 lb-ft of torque of EV boost. MPG: 23MPG City / 28 MPG Highway / 25 Combined.

So how was it?
We continue to adore the CX-90’s driving dynamics and sharp chassis, still best in class. The suspension feels more sorted out than from 2 years ago, not as crashy. We like the strong power on regular fuel and impressive MPG. The infotainment and some features could be upgraded, but we hope the wonderful Mazdas roll wheel doesn’t disappear.
If you’re buying a CX-90 or CX-70 go straight to the 2 Inline-6 options and skip the PHEV. It’s more refined, peppy, and smoother all round while offering 8-passenger seating in a more premium package than the competition.
