Rethinking Accountability: Session 5 — Resource Accountability
The Resource Accountability panel at the Rethinking Accountability conference in Washington, D.C. focuses on resources needed by parents and students, and whether other states will follow California's new funding formula.
Policymakers; school and district leaders; business, teacher, parent, and civil rights organizations; education foundations; and members of the media gathered June 11 for a conference on Rethinking Accountability: Putting Students and Learning First. The conference discussed how schools, districts, and communities across the nation are charting new paths to student- and learning-focused accountability, and how new approaches are making a difference in improving education.
The conference was hosted by the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education and sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Sandler Family Foundation.
Carmel Martin, executive vice president for policy at the Center for American Progress, hosts the panel that includes John Jackson, president and CEO of the Schott Foundation for Public Education; Thomas Saenz, president and general counsel for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund; Richard Zeiger, chief deputy superintendent of the California Department of Education; and John T. Affeldt, managing attorney for Public Advocates Inc.
