Why #Oppo
Oppo - the Chinese giant which looks set to emerge as the world’s third-biggest mobile phone seller this year – has launched its flagship phone in #SouthAfrica.
While some of its phones have been available for some time, the company has now set up a local office in Woodmead, Johannesburg and officially brought the Oppo A72 to market.
It’s on sale from R6,999 (or from R399 per month on a #Vodacom contract), which is roughly in the same ballpark as the #SamsungGalaxy A51, Samsung Galaxy A31, and #Huawei P40
The Oppo A72 comes in two colours, both inspired by the polar circle: Aurora Purple and Twilight Black. The phone comes with four cameras - a large 48MP main camera sensor, two portrait style lenses and a 119° ultra-wide angle camera.
It comes with Android, but also with its own open operating system – ColorOS – as a “special layer” on top of Android 10. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor.
The phone comes with an 18W fast charger, and its battery has impressed reviewers.
Calling it a “flashy phone on the outside, and perfectly serviceable phone on the inside”, Stuff magazine said that the standout feature on the A72 is its “mammoth battery life”.
“It packs in a 5,000mAh battery that it is genuinely impossible to run down over the course of a day.”
