In January 1982, over 18,000 landslides in the San Francisco Bay Area were triggered by an unusually large storm. That storm, which caused extensive flooding and landslides, took 33 lives, 25 of which were landslide related. Property damage was immense. This USGS documentary examines the causes and effects of those 1982 landslides as well the 1997-98 landslides that occurred in that area. It also does a great job of explaining landslide science...great educational video that anyone interested in geology should be interested in.
