Reclaiming Narratives by Rail with Southern Railway, Scarlette Douglas and The Flygerians
Come behind the scenes with Southern as we're Reclaiming Narratives by Rail. To kick things off, during UK Black History Month, we held a celebration of Black history, arts and culture on our network with a panel session led by our Race Equality Network (REN), an employee network which brings together colleagues from Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern and Thameslink (GTR) to champion our diverse communities.
The panel session is moderated by broadcaster Scarlette Douglas, best known for "Worst House on the Street", "I'm A Celebrity..." and "A Place in the Sun", and features Jess and Jo Edun aka social media culinary sensations and restauranteurs The Flygerians, plus Howard Thomas and Markus Balogun from our REN.
In this session, you'll find out what Reclaiming Narratives means to us, how Southern is working with The King's Trust through the Get Into Railways programme to improve representation from diverse communities in our industry, and learn our favourite destinations on Southern to explore Black arts, history and culture.
