“Memories Of Shiqi (2021)” This Experimental Film explores the representation of memory in film.
Shot on Super 8 film stock, Ektachrome 100D, using a 60-year-old vintage, Russian clockwork camera combined with archival footage shot on a variety of mobile phones over the lifetime of the subject played by Shiqi Sun.
The mixture of real film and digital footage creates interesting historical visual references, the differences in textures, lighting, colour saturation, and resolution.
The film was shot in locations including Lancaster and Morecambe in England, and Wuhan in China.
