Tooth Sensitivity & TMD inputs, from the NECK?! Tinnitus temporarily relieved!
A patient who was run through MRI and CBCT screening by Dr. Nick was found to have severely damaged TMJ's. Her problems would not likely respond to a computerized bite adjustment, so Dr. Nick decided to rule out the neck and cervical inputs as being a part of her problems. He injected only her neck, and minutes later she found profound relief around her TMJ's, AND, most of her tooth sensitivity went away as well...from a NECK block with local anesthetic?!! A very interesting video that teaches all dental professionals and patients that the normal dental teaching are not always enough... Dr. Nick has integrated neck blocks into the Neural Occlusion screening protocols. Additionally, he is planning to publish his findings regarding the cervical and sympathetic nervous systems influence upon tooth sensitivity over time. Note: her pain relief is only temporary as the local anesthetic would wear off within hours. The exercise illustrated was DIAGNOSTIC, to find where her pains were coming from... Also of note, the patient describes that her constant tinnitus/ringing in her ears subsided for the duration of the anesthetic block, implicating cervical inputs as being causative for her tinnitus. The blocks did not treat her tinnitus, but laid down valuable diagnostic clues as to the source of her tinnitus. Measured Matters!
