We set up a heat map using conditional formatting in Excel. A heat map is a powerful data visualisation tool where values are formatted by colour. In our example we are comparing the average temperatures for January to December across six years. By applying a heat map we can quickly identify the variations in temperature. We will also cover how to hide the numbers and show just the colours and how to vary the colour formats.
