📷 Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM — One Lens, One Day in Melbourne
This isn't a review. There are no test charts, no sharpness comparisons, no MTF curves. What there is — is one photographer, one lens, one day in Melbourne, and around 120 images worth looking at.
I'm Michael Evans — a lifelong professional photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. This channel is about the image. Not the gear that creates it.
The Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM is Canon's first pancake lens for the RF mount. 120 grams. Barely an inch long. A focal length I wouldn't naturally reach for. Which is exactly why I spent a day with nothing else.

📌 A few things worth noting before you watch:
▸ No shot data is included — no aperture, shutter speed or ISO. Everything was shot in aperture priority with auto ISO. I was paying attention to the image, not the numbers.
▸ Some images have been cropped heavily — the R5's 45MP sensor allows this. Where I've cropped, I've done so to find the image I saw, not the one the 28mm showed me. Architectural perspectives have also been corrected in post production.
▸ Walking footage shot on GoPro Hero 11. Dinosaur exhibit sequences on DJI Osmo Pocket 4.
▸ One image is a 4-shot panorama — noted on screen.
💬 I'm genuinely curious — do you shoot with a fixed focal length as your primary lens? Which one, and why? Let me know in the comments. I read every one.
