Early autumn in Russia is a time to remember one of the most tragic chapters in recent history—the Beslan terrorist attack. Terrorists held over 1,000 people hostage for three days. A total of 334 people died, half of them children.
Twenty years have passed, and the investigation is still ongoing, with many circumstances of the attack remaining unclear. Meanwhile, the public continues to circulate their own theories and speculations about Beslan.
We decided to ask Russians how they remember the tragedy, why they think all the details have never been revealed, and whether schools have become safer.
