Svetlana is Ukrainian. She hails from the Luhansk region. She experienced the events of 2014 through the eyes of a 15-year-old. Soon after, she left for Russia—her parents took her to live with relatives in Belgorod, away from the shelling. In the "Ochevidtsy" project, Svetlana discusses how she perceived what was happening back then, why many in Donbas felt a future with Russia was better than a future with Europe, and what the war did to family ties.
