Five Questions for Inés Garland
Inés Garland is a writer, translator, and narrative workshop coordinator. Her works for adults, young adults, and children have been translated into several languages, and her stories are included in anthologies in various languages. She is the author of the short story collections The Architecture of the Ocean and With the Sword of My Mouth*, and the novels *The King of the Centaurs*, *A Perfect Queen*, and *A Truer Life*. She has also published the young adult novels *Rock, Paper, Scissors (winner of the German Youth Literature Prize), Lilo (winner of the Ala Delta and Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi prizes), and From the Mouth of a Lion (Alandar Prize). In 2018, she received the Looren Fellowship for translators. Among others, she has translated Tiffany Atkinson, Sharon Olds, Lydia Davis, Lorrie Moore, Mavis Gallant, Jamaica Kincaid, Julie Hayden, and Bette Howland.
