Saving Chimpanzees in the Eastern Congo

In March of this year, I had the opportunity to work with Lwiro Primates and the Ivan Carter Wildlife Conservation Alliance on a short film highlighting the operations of rescuing and rehabilitating baby chimpanzees who are by-products of the illegal bushmeat and pet trade in the DRC.
In terms of cinematography and storytelling, this isn't my proudest piece of work but I am however proud of the overall message behind the film. It took Covid-19 for us to realize that our relationship with nature is completely out of balance. If there is any relationship that should have us questioning our morality, is is surely the one we have with chimpanzees, our closest relatives who share almost most 99% of our DNA.
It was so powerful to witness these chimpanzees up close and see how similar their behavior is to ours.
