Laura Branigan - "Mugsy's Girls" 40th Anniversary Screening - Special Introductions [cc] (2024)
In August 2024, fans who attended the Laura Branigan "Spirit Of Love" Memorial Gathering on Long Island, New York, hosted by Other Half Entertainment, Laura Branigan Legacy Management, enjoyed a screening of Laura's first film, "Mugsy's Girls," as we marked the film's 40th anniversary. Prior to the screening, special introductions by Laura's fellow cast members Rebecca Forstadt (Karen) and Eddie Deezen (Lane) were shown. Many thanks to Rebecca and Eddie for making this a special time for everyone!
"Mugsy's Girls," also known as "Delta Pi," is a 1984 comedic film starring Laura Branigan and Ruth Gordon. The film is sort of a female "Animal House." Strapped for cash, the Delta Pi sorority girls and their housemother Mugsy embark on a trip to Las Vegas with promoters to participate in a mud wrestling competition, with many high jinks along the way. The film was released to video in 1985.
Rebecca Forstadt has voiced hundreds of Japanese anime films and TV series, with one of her most notable characters being Minmei in "Robotech," and she also has had an extensive career in animation, commercials, video games, ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), and audio books, as well as additional work in on-camera roles. Rebecca also enjoys appearing as a special guest at anime and sci-fi conventions.
Eddie Deezen began his career as a stand-up comedian, then transitioned to acting and became known for his portrayal of "nerd" characters. Some of his other film credits include playing Eugene in "Grease" (1978) and "Grease 2" (1982), and Malvin in "WarGames" (1983). Eddie is also quite well-known as a voice actor, and some of his notable characters are Know-It-All in the film "The Polar Express" (2004) and Mandark in the Cartoon Network series "Dexter's Laboratory" (1996-2003) and as Ned in Disney Channel's "Kim Possible" series (2002-2007).
