Calypso Rides Info and History - Flat Ride Friday 20
The Calypso was invented by German showman Bausch and Distel in 1958. The ride was thought up after the showmen had visited the US and seen the successes of the new at the time, Scrambler ride. The showmen believed that a more refined version of the ride could do well on the reemerging German fairground scene. They secured the name Calypso and set out to make a refined scrambler, with a more appealing look and more movements.
