In this video I have talked about Numeral Systems. How did people use numbers in the past? How have we come up with using this kind of decimal system we use today?
I start from about tens of thousands years ago when they used some bones (Ishango bone and Lebombo bone) as mathematical tools to keep track of the days in a month. Then, I start talking about Sumerians and Babylonians who were the first to use positional notation to present numbers. They used a kind of base-60 system that we still use today for time. The other numeral systems mentioned in this video are Egyptian hieroglyphs, Roman numbers, Mayan numeral system (including a poker face as seven) and the decimal numbers we use today.
I made this video to show you how we, as human beings, came up with the concept of numbers by watching our surroundings. I hope this gives you a new insight.
