This video is part 1 in a series of videos showing my favorite ways to record drums. I'm going to explore a variety of mic types, combinations and placement techniques that will help you get a better drum sound no matter what gear you have. In this video, I am using a single SM57 microphone in an "over the shoulder" positioning to give an amazing full-picture drum recording. I also show both the dry (unmixed) and processed (mixed) sound to give a better idea of what this combination sounds like as well as how good it can sound in a mix.
This video is perfect for anyone looking to record better sound drums with a limited channel count or only a single Shure SM57 microphone.
