Years ago, as my son prepared for college, he talked about getting a job. I loved the idea, but I challenged him: “Instead of just getting a job, figure out how to make money. There’s a difference.”
That small shift sparked something in him. I didn’t give him a roadmap; I just nudged his thinking. He took it from there, creating a couple of side hustles. It wasn’t about me telling him what to do—it was about encouraging him to think creatively and independently.
As parents, our time to shape our kids is limited. If we’re not intentional, we miss the chance to empower them to think differently, to be resourceful, and to carve their own path. Just like God was intentional with us, we must be intentional with them.
