Jesús Maestegui says that the Los 10,000 del Soplao race changed his life since he created it. But in reality, the competition, which features cycling as its main attraction, changed the entire town of Cabezón de la Sal, where the event has become a key date on the calendar. Hotels and restaurants throughout the region prepare to welcome participants from all over the world and experience a celebration of sport each year. Many locals train harder with this event as their motivation. And the bicycle has even become a symbol here.
The organizer had personally experienced the grueling nature of another competition and wanted to replicate the event in his town. "I'll do this in Cabezón," he decided. "People need to know how tough it is," he thought. He was already known for running long-standing businesses in various sectors, but this venture solidified his position as a leading figure in the industry. He had absorbed the teachings of his father, who, whenever an opportunity arose, “said yes to everything.”
