"Jessie wait, call your dad! Maybe he knows where your mom went!" Announced Justin, stopping her.
"Good idea, I'll call!" Sniffled Jessie, holding Justin's hand. She pressed dial, hoping her dad would pick up... no reply. "C'mon!" She said, furiously typing out the number again... still no answer.
"Why isn't he answering?! I don't have time for this!!!" She cried.
"Where could she be? Umm... got it! Maybe she's at work!" Suggested Justin.
"She doesn't normally work on a Thursday, but maybe she's doing some overtime, it's worth a try! I don't know why, but I just have a feeling something bad is going to happen, like I did before the plane crash"
"We'll find her, don't worry! Where does your mom work?" Justin asked.
"About three blocks down the road, it's the police station" She stated. With that, they ran hand in hand, as fast as they could, in the crisp, chilly atmosphere. Justin softly shivered, whilst sprinting. Jessie wasn't wearing shoes, so her feet got sore, as she ran over the uneven gravel.
"Are you sure we're going the right way?" Panted Justin, as they ran further.
"I know this place like the back of my hand, we're almost there!" She reassured.
"Okay, I'm so sorry, but I need to stop, I can't go on, I need to breathe" He held a hand to his chest.
"We're here, it's okay baby" Jessie seemed to catch her breath much faster than him, goodness knows how.
"J-just a sec" Justin huffed, leaning on Jessie for support. She kept her arm around him.
"Looks like we're going to have to go into a police station in swimwear..." Sighed Justin, as they walked in.
"Hello, could you tell me if my mom is working here tonight?"
"Oh hi Jessie, long time no see. Yeah, she's in her office, but firstly, why are you two wear-"
"Thanks!" Jessie replied, before he could even finish his sentence, running up to room 704.
"Mom, are you in there?" Called out Jessie, as she knocked her fists on the chrome plated door. No answer.
"Mrs. Johnson?" Justin also knocked. A tall, skinny man, with oval glasses and spiky hair came up to them.
"Hey, Helen. You in there? Helen? Uh not to be rude, but why are you guys wearing that?" He said.
"Long story, right Jess? Jess?" Justin repeated. "Does anybody else smell something burning?" She asked.
"Hmm, I do, oh my god!!! Look behind you!!" Yelled the skinny guy, pointing behind Justin.
Jessie and Justin's heads slowly turned and what they saw was the direct opposite of pretty. There were many people storming towards them, covered in burns, cuts, the fire alarm drilled and rang. That terrible scene was accompanied by increasing blazes of fire.
"Oh crap! C'mon Jess, we've got to get out of here now!!!" Yelled Justin, yanking her by the hand.
"Oh my gosh! But what about everyone else?!" Gasped Jessie.
"They're making their way out too, look! Come on!!!" Justin coaxed Jessie, and they ran out of the building.
"I-wait... mom! MY MOM'S STILL IN THERE!!" She shouted loudly, as she attempted to run back there. Justin wrapped his arms around her and restrained her, as many more people piled out of the building.
"Get off of me!!!!!!" She struggled, but he was too strong. "You mustn't! You'll get killed!!" He yelled.
"Please!! Wait, is that my mom up there?!" Jessie looked to the first floor, Helen banging on the window. "Mom! Whoa!!" Jessie shrieked, as a blast of umbers exploded through the building, shooting fire and breaking all of the windows. She saw her mom rocketed though the glass, being hurtled out, falling down to her doom. "NO!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, forcefully shoving Justin off and sprinting over to catch her mother. Alas, she couldn't get there fast enough. The smoke covered her for a few seconds, then revealed the sight that made her heart jump.
Diego had got Helen in his arms! He'd caught her and she hadn't died! Where did he come from? Why was he here and how did he catch her? "Mom! You're alive!! Thank god! Thank-you dad!! You saved her life!" Jessie sobbed, hugging them both tightly.
"I'm fine, I'm so glad you got out of there!" Coughed Helen, wiping the blood from her forehead.
"I'm so glad too, you're all okay!" Called Justin, who came running over.
"Wait, that little girl over there. Do you see her? She's on her own and she's right next to the window!!" Jessie exclaimed and went over and picked up the little girl. "Are you okay sweetie?" Jessie said. The little girl just stared blankly at her. "Wait... what's that ticking sound?" Before she had a chance to ask the others, another blast of fire soared out of the building, sending Jessie flying hundreds of meters. Her body slammed against the edge of the road, the child lay in her arms, unharmed. Jessie however, lay still and lifeless, blood dripping from her head and mouth. "JESSIE!! NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!" They screamed in horror.
