"NO!! JESS, I'M COMING!" Screamed Justin, as he sprinted up to her, as fast as his legs would carry him.
"Jus... tin..." Jessie whispered feebly, her eyesight grew very blurry. Within seconds, she was unconscious.
"Oh my god! Wake up!! You have to wake up! Please!!!" He cried, as he scooped her up into his arms, Diego ran up to them, Helen in his. "My baby! We need to get her to the hospital, pronto!" Coughed Helen.
"And you! She has to be okay!! Our precious angel!" Gasped Diego, aggressively dialing 911 on his cell.
Diego picked up the little girl and Helen held her. He and Helen were worried about Justin, because he just sat there with Jessie in his arms, rocking back and forth, hiding his face in her hair and struggling to stop himself from crying. They needed to bring the child with them, she was in danger.
"She'll be okay, she has to be" Sniffled Helen, as she and Diego hugged him and Jessie.
Before long, the ambulance arrived. Justin couldn't carry her to the vehicle faster.
"Is this-" Began the paramedic.
"Yes! Please hurry, there's no way we can lose her!" Exclaimed Justin.
"And her mother, my wife, she's hurt too, this little girl is lost, though..." Winced Diego. "Okay, bring them in fellas" With that, Justin carried Jessie in and set her down on the bed, Diego held Helen on his lap.
"So how long has she been this way?" Asked the other paramedic, while closing the door behind them.
"Ab- about..." Justin stuttered, then couldn't contain it any longer, he burst into tears.
"It's okay son" The paramedic patted him on the back gently. "About ten minutes" Flubbed Helen.
"Okay, thank-you. We'll be there soon" He continued, then put an oxygen mask on Jessie.
Diego and Helen tried to console Justin on the way there, but he was beside himself.
"Hang in there beautiful" Justin whispered, squeezing her hand.
"We're here! You can all get checked over" Stated the paramedic, as they put Jessie and Helen on separate gurneys and wheeled them into the building. A paramedic carried the little girl into a different room.
"Doc, please save my little girl! She's too young to be like this" Prompted Diego.
"I need to be in the same room as her! I can't leave her, she's my daughter!" Insisted Helen.
"I'm not sure if we can just-" He began. "Please!!" She begged. "O-of course" He agreed, placing her in the bed beside Jessie. Diego and Justin sat in-between both beds, hoping that everything was going to work out.
The doctor checked Jessie over and over, for broken bones, excess fluids and internal damage. She was still wearing an oxygen mask, to ensure that her breathing remained regular.
"Is she going to be okay? Please say my babygirl is going to be fine!!" Sniffed Justin.
"Well, we'll do more tests, but by the looks of things, she's only got a few bruises, fracture to her arm and she'll need stitches on the side of her head, where the cut is. We cannot say for definite that she'll wake up soon, but keep talking to her, that'll help. I forgot to ask, what relation are you, to this young woman?"
"I'm her boyfriend, that's her mom and dad" Justin said. "Thank-you so much" Sighed Diego, with relief.
"Dr, one more thing... could you please call my mother?" Helen asked, her voice still slightly croaky.
"Of course" He smiled as Helen handed him the number on a piece of paper.
Many hours later, Alma was telling Justin about how Jessie used to run around the house in her underwear, when she was five, whenever a particular song came on. That made Justin giggle, it lightened the atmosphere slightly. Justin's hand had not separated from Jessie's once, since he'd been holding her, prior to the ambulance coming. He was exhausted, he tried to stay awake and continue talking to Jessie, in hope that she would wake up, but he couldn't do it. His warm coffee eyes slowly fell shut and his head dropped to the side. He fell asleep, it was much needed. About twenty minutes later, Jessie's fingers faintly wiggled between his, she stirred and began to awaken. Her emerald orbs shifted open, her long black eyelashes gently twitching, as she did so. "Mm?" She mumbled, as her vision became clear. "Mh... J-Jess? I'm so happy you're awake!!" Justin seemed more excited than a little puppy, who had just been given a new chew toy. "I-I can't believe I fell asleep, I'm so sorry!!" He rambled. "Shh... it's okay" Jessie giggled, a small cough escaped also. "Does it hurt? Where does it hurt?" Worried Justin.
"Everywhere" Jessie laughed faintly. "We're so glad you're okay sweetheart!" Announced Helen, Diego and Grandma Alma. Justin moved Jessie's fringe out of the way and kissed her forehead. "I don't know if I could have lived without you" A bead of sweat dripped off of Justin's cheek. "You don't have to" She smiled. Stroking his face gently.
