Tapping PL259s
What to do when your PL259 plugs are too small for the coax you need to use?
My experience: you cannot accurately nor comfortably drill out a hole for a marginal increase, e.g. 5mm hole drilled out to 6mm. The results are oval/elongated and sloppy.
Here I mention that a basic tap and die set, with olive oil as a cutting fluid, works sufficiently well and leaves the added bonus of threading the hole, so that you can twist the coax in and benefit from grip on the outer cable covering.
