What is Intune Remediation
Consists of 2 PS scripts (1. Detection 2. Remediation)
and upload to Intune Portal.
Detection Script: Detect the issue : Exit 1 as output
Remediation Script: Remediate the issue

Use Detection Script only
To detect the issue only: Exit 1 is used
We will not use remediation Script
Use case: For reporting purpose, to get non-compliant devices, without targeting the compliance policy

Compliance Policy (Built on or custom compliance policy)
To mark the device as Compliant / Non-Compliant
Used with Conditional Access policies to block the access to company resources.
Remediation Script (with detect only Script)
Used to detect the devices as Without issues / with issues.
Compliant: Without issues
Non-compliant: With issues

Use case:
You can use it with detection only script to check the issues / without issues which can interchangeable with non-compliant / compliant device status.
Benefit:
Conditional access policies won't apply on remediation script output unlike Compliance policy.
Straight forward approach for reporting purpose to find the list of faulty devices with specific settings not applied.
Can be much closed looked as SCCM's Baseline / configuration Item property (though not so powerful as compared to SCCM).
