Technical Sales Engineer - Picking an Industry
When you're debating to get into a Technical Sales role, one of the first questions often asked is "What industry should I go into"? While there can be many different paths to go down, I often advise people to think about where their passion is. It's not easy to make a major industry change down the road to something completely different. You could potentially receive less of a base salary or have a harder time adjusting to a new industry.
What industries do YOU like? Are you interested in robotics, software, metals, plastics, artificial Intelligence, etc? Getting up to hustle in sales everyday is a lot easier when you have passion for the industry that you're working in.

The other side of picking an industry is focusing on what do you have experience in? Have you worked in metals for the past 10 years but just not in sales, and now you're looking for a change? Potential employers will value your experience in the industry and can overlook your lack of "sales experience".
If you're a fresh grad, maybe you always did an internship in a specific technical industry that you can rely on for your application.
Either way, pick an industry you have passion for or go with something you have experience in. Each situation has its own challenges but this should be a good starting point to begin the process.
