Careers guidance is a broad church of different activities and interventions over time for young people. While schools and colleges have a statutory obligation to provide their students with careers programmes that align with the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring all young people receive the support they need can be tough. Youth organisations also have a key role to play in supporting young people’s careers, and many do so already, often helping those deemed ‘hardest to reach’. Effective support and collaboration between schools, colleges and youth organisations can significantly enhance young people’s experiences of preparing for careers - this panel looks at what is needed to make this work.
