e onion or plant called allium ascalonicum is commonly used in cooking food in Indonesia.
Not only is it used for decoration but it is also part of the cuisine because of its great shape and rich meat that makes food more delicious.
Called the onion because of its being brought by merchants who are believed to have come from the Indian city of Bombay (mumbai now) to Indonesia (permadi,1995).

The onion has a distinct aroma when compared with the common onion, although its root consists of layers that become larger and unified.
The root includes a fibrous and shallow root, while the leaf is a pielike shape but is flattened with a deep green and larger size than the common onion.
The stem is a sheath and produces a trail of rings. The base of the canopy expands and thickens to form a large swelling that serves to store food reserves, the swelling itself is an onion root.
The base has a distal stems that look like disks that act as Onions. The flower is a compound, spherical flower with a large, strong, large stem at the bottom.
At the tip of a flower stem sometimes forms small bulbs that can also be used as a seed.
