Oranges or lime are all flowering plants of the citrus clan of the rutaceae.
The members are tree-shaped with a succulent fruit of the flesh, though many of the members have a sweet taste. The sour taste comes from the citric acid content of all its members.
The reference to "oranges" is sometimes applied to certain members of the same related clan, such as kingkit. In the vernacular, the mention of "oranges" or "limes" (in Sumatra and Malaysia) often means "tangerines" or "candied oranges." In Java, "lime" (or "limo") means "lime." Oranges are remarkably varied and several species can crisscross together and produce hybrids between species (' interspecies' interspecies) that have distinctive characteristics, different from their oldest species.
This diversity often makes it difficult for classification, naming and recognition of its members, since the distinction is not uncommon until a flower or fruit is produced. The result is not known clearly how many varieties.
Recent studies indicate a strong connection of citrus with the genus fortunella (strong kumella), poncirus, and microcitrus and eremocitrus, thus allowing for merging. Citrus itself has two subgenus (subgenus), citrus and papeda.
