Srinagar to Sonamarg: The trip begins in Srinagar, the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir. From Srinagar, you will travel approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) to reach Sonamarg. The road takes you through picturesque valleys, charming villages, and the famous Zojila Pass.
Sonamarg to Drass: From Sonamarg, continue on the National Highway 1D for about 60 kilometers (37 miles) to reach Drass, known as the second coldest inhabited place on earth. This stretch of the journey offers stunning views of the snow-capped peaks and the meandering Drass River.
Drass to Kargil: After Drass, the road will take you another 60 kilometers (37 miles) to reach Kargil, a historic town situated on the banks of the Suru River. Kargil is famous for its role in the Kargil War between India and Pakistan in 1999. Along the way, you will pass through picturesque landscapes, including the scenic Lamayuru village and the Mulbekh Monastery.
